Robinson Successfully Prosecutes Retired Priest

Claire Robinson led by Kate Lumsdon QC successfully prosecuted a retired Roman Catholic priest, Fr Francis McDermott, for historic sex offences against two boys and four girls in the 1970’s. The defendant exploited his position as a priest to strike up friendships with Catholic families in his parish. He used his charm and charisma to gain the trust of both the parents and the children so he could sexually abuse them. Fr McDermott will be sentenced on the 14th March 2019.
