Tana Adkin QC successfully defended a highly qualified and respected dentist and specialist orthodontist before the General Dental Council. Allegations had been made against her by her Practice Manager (who was also her ex-husband) in an effort to damage her professionally. Against a background of domestic abuse Ms. Adkin cross-examined the ex-husband to expose his motives. He was described by the GDC Committee as “not a credible witness” and being “inconsistent when answering some of the more challenging questions put to him in cross-examination”. The Committee preferred the evidence of the dentist and her witnesses and found that the dentist’s fitness to practice was not impaired.
