Louise McCullough, instructed by Firoz Dawood of Finsbury Law Solicitors, represented a young man of good character who was facing an Indictment containing sixteen Counts including rape; only thirteen Counts were left to the jury. The allegations were set against a background of alleged honour based violence.
As a result of requests by the Defence Louise was provided with third party material that following lengthy and meticulous scrutiny formed the core of careful and devastating cross-examination of the complainant.
The jury unanimously acquitted the defendant of the thirteen Counts in just over two hours.
There had initially been two co-defendants who faced allegations of violence, however, the allegations againts them were dismissed by the Court in advance of trial following submissions by Charter’s Neil Guest.
