Events organiser acquitted of drugs and money laundering

Dr Andreas O’Shea, instructed by Baldeep Bambra of SVS Solicitors successfully defended Kenny Mensah at Woolwich Crown Court on 10 counts of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and money laundering. He was acquitted on all counts.

The drugs and money were found in the property which he was sharing with his twin brother. Significant quantities of cocaine and heroin were found in a bedroom, kitchen and hallway. £45,000 cash was found in the second bedroom. A number of telephones were recovered for both defendants with drugs related messages found on these phones. Kenny Mensah accepted that the money was his but not the drugs and that he had no knowledge or control over them.  Meensah’s defence was that the money was meant for the organisation of events, a business he was trying to build. The Crown contented that any involvement in events organising was simply a mechanism for laundering the money earned from drug dealing.
