Darren Snow led a workshop on how to get criminal pupillage at this year’s Urban Lawyers Careers Conference on Saturday 18th November. Assisted by Charter Chambers pupils Megan Fletcher and Meredoc McMinn, Darren spoke of the challenges of getting a criminal pupillage and how to overcome them. He set out the need for careful planning, CV building, pro bono work and the growing importance of gaining valuable hands on legal work experience and advocacy experience. Despite the challenges faced by the criminal bar Darren emphasised the point that the criminal bar is a diverse community open to everyone, where talented people can succeed regardless of backgrounds if they are hard working and determined.
Urban Lawyers is a charity focused upon opening up legal careers to students who may not traditionally come into law. Hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills at their city office over 350 delegates attended for a wide range of workshops over the course of the day.
