Our purpose is to deliver the highest quality legal service. Everything we do is aimed at that objective. It is an objective you will share with us, as our client. We strive to understand your needs and we always aim to exceed your expectations.

Every barrister is different. Each has a different skill set and or specialism. Our clerking team will help you identify who is the most appropriate barrister for your case. Once a barrister is engaged in your case he or she will be responsible for it but we never forget that it remains your case. Our aim is ensure you are always involved in it and you continue to make informed decisions about it.

To that end, it’s important that your legal team and you have a good working relationship. We have a reputation and long track record of delivering a high quality service to our professional and lay clients. Like all organisations we may occasionally make a mistake. As you are at the forefront of our business if there has been something you have been unhappy with we want to hear about it through your feedback. Code of Conduct

The members of Charter are barristers trading as sole practitioners and are registered with the Bar Standards Board of England and Wales. They are governed by the Bar Standards Board's Code of Conduct available here.
 
The terms on which the barristers offer their services are set out in Annex G1 and G2 to the Code of Conduct and can be viewed here.

Diversity Data

Part 408.2 (p) of this Code of Conduct states that a summary of the Diversity Data submitted by the Members of the Workforce be published on chambers' website by 31st December 2012 and thereafter every three years. the latest summary can be found by clicking here.


Professional Liability Insurance


All barristers have professional liability insurance provided by the Bar Mutual Fund Limited. The minimum cover which barristers must have is £500,000. Territorial coverage is world-wide, subject to the terms of cover of the Bar Mutual, which may be accessed here. Contractual Terms

As of 31 January 2013 the standard default terms on which barristers have offered their services for many years have been withdrawn by the Bar Standards Board. These have been replaced by The (new) Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons 2012
  
The new Standard Contractual Terms will be adopted by all Charter barristers in respect of all new instructions and continuing matters in which members have previously been instructed where services are supplied to or at the request of any authorised persons, (solicitors or other persons authorised and regulated by the Law Society or the SRA).
