Practice Profile
As a criminal advocate of 15 years standing, Tana Adkin is an experienced Sexual Offences specialist. She acts as Leading Counsel in serious Rape trials, including those involving multiple complainants, multiple defendants and “stranger rape”. She lectures on Rape with particular reference to intoxication and consent.
She has vast experience of cases concerning vulnerable defendants and witnesses, in particular, children, the elderly and those suffering from mental illness or learning difficulties and all types of case involving “special measures”. She conducts cases of “shaken baby syndrome” and ritual child cruelty and is experienced in cross-examining paediatric and medical experts concerning serious head or genital injury. She also conducts cases involving internet paedophile crime.
She is a Level 3 Prosecutor on the CPS specialist Rape list and prosecutes in certain London Boroughs. She prosecutes high profile cases including prosecution of a Church Minister, gang rape of a prostitute and historic rape. She was also recently instructed in a case involving the mummified remains of a girl.
She also has experience in cases involving serious violence (murder, attempted murder and Section 18) and serious drugs offences including large-scale drugs importation. She conducts post-trial proceedings involving confiscation and asset recovery. She also has experience of cases of fraud, in particular with respect to cross-border money transfers.
