A practitioner with extensive experience of acting for both defence and prosecution in all elements of serious criminal work. Is instructed regularly to appear before Courts Martial both in the UK and overseas and regularly represents the Civil Aviation Authority.

Practice Profile
Primarily a criminal practitioner with particular expertise in serious drugs cases, violent crime, dishonesty offences and conducting prosecutions on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority. Conducts cases as both sole counsel and led junior at all levels from first instance through to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
In addition to criminal work, Roderick has extensive experience in the field of military law and is regularly instructed to appear before Courts Martial both in the United Kingdom and overseas. He undertakes all aspects of confiscation matters as well as immigration, deportation and Human Rights appeals.
Roderick was a 2004 Bar Caribbean Pro Bono Unit volunteer to Jamaica where he worked alongside local attorneys in the preparation and presentation of capital murder trials and appeals as well as other Human Rights related cases.
Cases
R v. M (Murder; ongoing) –
Junior counsel instructed pro-bono to make submissions to the CCRC in a ‘miscarriage of justice’ case involving an educationally challenged appellant, fresh evidence and allegations of professional negligence.
R v. W-B and others (Fraud; ongoing) –
Instructed as junior counsel for the defence in a £multi-million ‘MTIC’ mobile phone VAT fraud.
R v. Gun and others (People trafficking) –
Defence counsel instructed for the principal defendant in a Turkish people smuggling racket. Also instructed in the Court of Appeal hearing (Reported as Lambrou and others [2005] EWCA Crim 3595) relating to procedural issues where trial spanned the implementation dates of the CJA 2003 ‘bad character’ provisions.
R v. Pruscanovic (Drugs importation) –
Successfully defended client against allegations of his having imported 35kgs of cannabis into the country.
R v. Bryan and others (Fraud / Corruption) –
Junior counsel for the defence in a London Underground privatisation / equipment fraud.
R v. Kightley (s.18 GBH) –
Successfully defended rugby player against allegation of serious assault where the incident had taken place as part of play during a rugby match.
