Charter Barrister in "Serial Killer" Appeal
Charter Barrister Rag Chand currently represents Omar Benguit in a second appeal against his conviction for the murder of Korean student Jong Ok-Shin in July 2002. He previously represented Sean Hodgson, who was released in 2009 after 27 years in prison for the murder and rape of a barmaid. He located forensic evidence that proved Hodgson was not the murderer.
Following the conviction of Danilo Restivo for the murder of Bournemouth seamstress Heather Barnett, ITV broadcast a follow-up report on that case, looking at evidence that links Restivo to the 1993 murder of student Eliza Claps in Italy and the similarities between those killings and the murder of Jong Ok-Shin.
