Alex Jamieson
Alex Jamieson
Year of Call: 2007 Gray's Inn MA (Cantab)
Specialist Areas: Serious Violent Offences, Large Drugs Related Offences, Sexual Offences

Biography

Alex Jamieson is a resourceful and persuasive advocate, at home before any tribunal. He has accrued significant experience in matters out of step with his call, recently appearing in homicide, firearms and large scale fraud cases, as well as the more standard areas of:

Drugs
Dishonesty
Sexual Offences
Violence Allegations
Financial & Fiscal Crime

Alongside his skills of advocacy, Alex has taken pride in establishing detailed knowledge and expertise in the crossover areas between criminal and civil law. He accepts instructions in extradition proceedings both at first instance and on appeal, and has experience of seeking judicial review before the Divisional Court. Confiscation and asset forfeiture in general, are areas of real strength.

Prior to joining Charter Chambers Alex gained particular expertise through a year-long secondment to the Direct Tax Fraud division of the Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office (now rebranded as CPS: Central Fraud Group). There, he not only honed his skills in the litigation of serious financial and fiscal crime, but gained detailed working knowledge of the strategic direction and methodology of this important prosecutorial department. This knowledge has often proved invaluable when transferred into his defence practice.
