Biography

Mr Tomassi is an experienced criminal barrister with a reputation for hard-hitting advocacy. He is particularly noted in the fields of:

Serious Fraud
Murder
Attempted Murder
Violent Crime

His expanding practice also encompasses regulatory work, large-scale VAT and duty evasion and he regularly takes cases to the Court of Criminal Appeal on reference. He has developed an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of fatal road traffic accidents.

Mark Tomassi has been engaged in Criminal Law for over 25 years and has great experience of serious crime. His present caseload includes five separate cases involving suspicious death. He has recently completed the defence of one of the most serious cases of involvement in importation of firearms.

Mark has appeared on national television in legal documentary/dramas and is presently briefed in two high-profile fraud cases involving a loss to exchequer of over £100m. Mark instructed in the UK’s second longest criminal trial: R v Lombardi & Others.

He has a particular interest in road traffic law and is regularly instructed to both prosecute and defend in cases of death by dangerous driving, in which he has acquired a reputation for advanced technical knowledge.

Mark has recently been appointed a Grade 4 Prosecutor.
