In July 2001, Charter Chambers was formed by the members of Dr Johnson's
Chambers and former members of Cardinal Chambers to produce one of the largest
sets in the country. The head of Charter Chambers is Stephen Solley QC,
formerly Chair of the Bar Human Rights Committee.
With our wide range of experience and expertise, we are able to meet the many
and varied demands of the rapidly changing modern legal world. Chambers is
exceptionally well placed to meet the challenges presented by the new human
rights legislation and has a wealth of experience in this field, including
bringing cases before the courts at the Hague and Strasbourg.
Charter Chambers is committed to providing a high quality service to all our
clients in a friendly, approachable and effective way. To maintain these
standards, chambers has established criminal and civil teams to facilitate the
communication and exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience.
Our large criminal team offers a wide range of experience in both domestic and
international crime. Members of chambers have recently appeared in many high
profile murder, drugs and serious fraud cases. The criminal team also has
expertise in war crimes tribunal work, Privy Council death penalty appeals,
money laundering, asset confiscation and all aspects of prison law.
Our civil team offers specialists in employment, family, personal injury,
immigration, sports law, landlord and tenant, commercial, aviation law and
actions against the police.
